The results of the Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles competition, which took place in La Serena, Chile, on August 22, 23 and 24, 2017, have just been released. Three types of medals were awarded: Grand Gold, Gold and Silver. Once again, the competition proved to be a bellwether for the latest trends within the world of spirits, providing an annually updated snapshot of underlying changes.

The top five medal-winning countries in 2017 are France (incl. overseas territories: Guadeloupe, Martinique and the Reunion Island), China, Mexico, Italy and Taiwan. France and its overseas territories also achieved the highest number of Grand Gold Medals (8), followed by Mexico (3) then Italy and Spain, each with two Grand Gold Medals.

FULL RESULTS FOR THE 2017 SPIRITS SELECTION
In addition to medals, the competition also awarded a special Revelation Spirits Selection 2017 to three top quality, innovative and modern spirits that underscore current market trends:

Rhum Blanc Agricole Karukera Canne Bleue by Marquisat de Sainte-Marie Sas, Guadeloupe 
Château du Tariquet Bas Armagnac Folle Blanche 12 years, France 
Mezcal Don Aurelio Reposado by Don Aurelio Lamas, Mexico.

In 2017 Spirits Selection introduced the Revelation Organic Spirits Selection for the first time, to single out organic spirits that scored particularly well during the competition. The winner of this prestigious award is Ekiss Vodka 2012 by Domaines Francis Abecassis in France.

This year, nearly 1,200 spirits from 54 producer countries competed before a selection of the world’s finest judges: 66 spirits tasters representing 22 different nationalities assessed entries. The array of products competing and profiles of the judges are what makes the competition unique – it has become a truly global spirits championship.

The next Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will take place from August 21-23, 2018 in the city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
